This Truth Can Set You Free in the Face of Your Fears

Move through it, and not away from it.

--

We all know what it is like to be consumed by our darkness.

We experience the weight of fears that we so delicately build, and the more we nurture them, the more we allow it to continue crushing us with its overpowering weight.

While there could be unique and complex variables to each of our situation that contributes to the specific fears we hold, the responsibility to break free from them is solely ours.

We may think that we’re better off by locking them away in the attics of our souls, but that’s not the purpose our fears are meant to serve.

To understand our fears as triggers to who we are capable of becoming, rather than reasons to continue to remain who we are, is only the beginning of a liberating journey.

We are hardwired to let our fears surface in a way that only holds us back from the subject of our fears.

While it might be difficult for us to unwire ourselves to see our fears as a driving force for overcoming it, that is the only purpose our fears are meant to serve for us;

To offer us opportunities to transcend them.

The truth is,

Our fears are not meant to keep us submerged under them, but to help us rise beyond them.

Pema Chodron said:

“Fear is a natural reaction of moving closer to the truth.”

The feeling of uneasiness we feel in our fears, is simply our defense against the harsh truth;

Because truth breaks the excuses and assumptions we craft up in our heads;

It breaks our bubble in the exact ways we never wanted them to break;

We often forget how fragile our bubbles are though — they’re always waiting to be broken by the slightest disturbance;

Truth however, is permanent — it is all that ever was, is, and ever will be;

What we should be afraid of, is moving away from the truth, and not of moving closer to it.

If we can unwire ourselves from the weight that our fears carry on us, and then rewire to think how our fears provide us with directions for doing away with that very weight, we can begin to look through our fears for what they truly are.

When we feel scared, it is essentially our green light to go ahead and see why we shouldn’t be scared anymore.

To get to the other side, you must move through your fears, and not away from them.

It is only by leaning into the truth, that you can begin to understand the value you can add to yourself.

The next time you find yourself feeling those feelings you’d rather not feel, know that they’re here to guide you to the truth that will set you free.
